MED-V runs a Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) virtual machine using Microsoft Virtual PC technology. Microsoft Virtual PC ended extended support on July 11, 2017, and Windows XP SP3 ended extended support on April 8, 2014 Windows XP is perfect for multi-boots (not BCD dependent) and I still reboot from Windows 8 into Windows XP to use it for work. • Windows XP allows you to group files or folders on different parts of the screen whereas in Windows 7/8, you can *only* do this on the Desktop and nowhere else. Windows XP will keep working. The only thing that happens when support ends is that bug fixes, patches, vulnerability fixes, and so forth will no longer be made available. This will be very much like Windows 98. If you’ve got Windows 98, it still runs. It may not support all of the software that you care about and you’re certainly not Microsoft provided support for Windows XP for the past 12 years.
